Our history
Aquafides was born in 2015 with a simple and demanding idea: if water is the most material resource of 21st-century sustainability, it deserves its own certification, distinct from carbon and specific to water footprint.
Over a decade we consolidated technical knowledge and built the first pilot cases in collaboration with universities, professional bodies and sector agents. In 2025 and 2026 we published the Aquafides Protocol v3.2, a proprietary standard that simultaneously integrates and verifies the water requirements of ISO 14046, AWS Standard v2.0, ESRS E3 (CSRD), GRI 303 and CDP Water on a single documentary body, with mandatory Advisor and Auditor separation formalised in its Annex IV.
In 2026 we issued the first certification of the new version of the Protocol in the Mediterranean hotel sector and began the expansion toward European tour operators, water-intensive supply chains and public administrations with territorial responsibility over water.
Institutional recognition
Aquafides has participated in internationalisation projects supported by IVACE / FEDER of the Generalitat Valenciana in collaboration with universities, professional bodies and sector agents.
